A special collaboration between singer songwriter Iain Matthews and guitarist/singer songwriter/producer BJ Baartmans. Matthews has worked with Fairport Convention, Plainsong, Matthews Southern Comfort and More Than A Song, among others. Baartmans has worked with a long line of Dutch and international acts such as JW Roy, Jack Poels, Frans Pollux, The Space Age Travelers, Hidden Agenda Deluxe, Oh Susanna, Jeff Finlin, Levi Parham, Carter Sampson, David Corley.
During the pandemic, Iain and BJ started working together, resulting in a series of songs in which they gave free rein to their reflections on the corona crisis. Gloomy or comforting, disturbing or, on the contrary, resigned. These songs appeared on the album Distant Chatter and accompanying bonus EP Close Call in September 2021. The collection of songs is described as 'Americana with an adventurous, colorful and sometimes pleasantly gritty edge. Striking melodic turns, pungent choruses and playful guitar with ear catching hooklines. Highly personal reflections on an album that just had to be made, it came naturally, in all facets'.
