This year marks the 50th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix's death. In a show that lasts over four hours, seven guitarists show their respect for the man who turned the music world upside down with his unique progressive guitar playing. In addition to their favorite Hendrix songs, they also play a few of their own songs, through which Hendrix’s mastery undoubtedly seeps through.
Michael Lee Firkins [usa] leaves his mark with his mixture of country, blues and jazz, through his wonderful way of playing. Over the years he has developed into a source of inspiration for many aspiring guitar heroes.
Eamonn McCormack [irl] has been around the circuit for years. He made quite a name for himself, known as Samuel Eddy he played with Johnny Winter, Jan Akkerman, Nils Lofgren, Rory Gallagher and toured with Walter Trout and Popa Chubby.
For Danny Giles [uk] playing the guitar is in his DNA. In his active stage years his idiosyncratic guitar work did not pass by public and press. Giles has built up a considerable reputation in accompanying numerous celebrities.
Krissy Matthews [uk] was 12 when he performed with John Mayall And The Bluesbreakers. In support of Joe Bonamassa, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Gregg Allman, Beth Hart, Los Lobos, Ten Years After and Toto, he gradually moved towards the spotlight himself.
Khalif Wailin ’Walter [usa] belongs to the new generation of Chicago Blues artists and can already look back on an impressive career. He plays soul, rock, funk and blues with a creativity for which Hendrix would undoubtedly have taken his hat off.
Innes Sibun [uk] is considered to be one of the best blues guitarists in England. Sibun toured the US for many years as a guitarist with Robert Plant and played at all major festivals in Europe with his own band.
Tom Veltien [nl] is a guitar talent influenced by Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck and, of course, Jimi Hendrix. Energetic, impulsive and dynamic are appropriate descriptions. No challenge is too big for this 23-year-old grandmaster of the guitar.
The Tightropes accompany these guitar heroes. Marco Boers (vocals, guitar), Dennis Hemstra (bass) and Alan Luring (drums) play in the style of the big power trios from the 60s and 70s like the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream.
