Soup

Soup is one of the standard-bearers of the contemporary post-rock scene. The Norwegian band was founded in 2004 by multi-instrumentalist Erlend Viken. Soup now has six albums to its name. The album "The Beauty Of Our Youth" (2013) was treated very favourably by the critics in the low countries, putting the band firmly on the map. Comparisons with Pink Floyd and Steven Wilson are regularly made. Atmospheric melodies, influences from the seventies progrock, psychedelica combined with modern post-rock.
In the bedroom of mastermind Erlend Viken the foundation was laid for the typical 'Soup sound'. The first unofficial album "Give It An Empire" (2015) only had a limited edition of 50 copies. Successor "Come On Pioneers" was also produced in-house by Viken, this time it was released in an edition of 300 copies. The record is picked up by the Norwegian radio stations and Erlend Viken decides to put together a band to play the material live. In the meantime he is working, together with co-producer and Motorpsycho guitarist Hans Magnus Ryan, on the album "Children Of E.L.B." (2010). This album is voted 'album of the year' by The Norwegian ABC News awards. The band is featured at various festivals in Norway, is support act of post-rock band Maserati and the number of 'Souporters' is rapidly increasing. Viken does not like to have idle hands so more albums, "Duun" (2012) and "Entropia" (2012), soon follow. Their latest album "Remedies" (2017) once again receives favourable reviews.
