Soft Machine was founded in the late 1960s and is seen as a pioneer of the jazz fusion genre. In September 2018 their latest studio album "Hidden Details" was released, the first since 37 years.
Soft Machine is one of the most influential bands from the Canterbury Scene.
Soft Machine is:
Guitarist John Etheridge
Saxophonist Theo Travis (ex-Gong, Steven Wilson, David Gilmour)
Due to unforeseen health issues, John Marshall and Roy Babbington are unable to attend the Soft Machine shows in Northern Europe. The band does not want to disappoint fans by canceling the shows. Two top musicians who have played with Soft Machine before, are therefore going to replace John and Roy! Drummer Nic France has worked with many great artists such as Ronnie Scott, John Taylor, Allan Holdsworth and Bill Withers. He also toured with David Gilmour. Bassist Fred Thelonious Baker played in Phil Miller’s ‘In Cahoots’, a leading band in the Canterbury scene.
Expect classics from world-famous albums “Third” (1970) and “Fourth” (1971), material from the early years and of course songs from their latest album “Hidden Details”.
