For more than fifteen years, Polish band Riverside has been making accessible, well-produced progressive rock in the style of Marillion, Dream Theater, Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree.
However, in the midst of the success in 2016, disaster struck with the death of guitarist Piotr Grudzi?ski. The band decided to continue as a trio, although they are joined on stage by a guest guitarist. Obviously, this tragedy has had a direct effect on the music: on their new album Wasteland (2018), Riverside sounds much heavier and darker than ever before.
