Richard Thompson (Fairport Convention)



Richard Thompson is considered a living legend in the world of folk rock. As one of the original members of Fairport Convention, Thompson helped lay the foundation of the British folk movement in the late sixties, which is currently experiencing its renaissance with the success of Mumford & Sons.
Thompson is widely regarded as an inventive and virtuoso guitarist. He left Fairport Convention in 1971 and released his first solo album, Henry the Human Fly, in 1972. During the recording of this album he struck up a relation with Linda Peters, who was one of the singers of the album. Together they recorded five more albums, the latest of which, Shoot Out The Lights, was ranked by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the ten greatest albums of the eighties. The same magazine also named Thompson as one of the Top 20 guitarists of all time. Richard Thompson is also one of the world's most critically acclaimed and prolific songwriters.
