Mr. Big guitarist Paul Gilbert has made quite a few solo albums over the past decades. The music on these albums varies massively, from pop music inspired by The Beatles and melodic hard rock to raging guitar force like in his early years with Racer X.
Gilbert takes a new direction on his new album "Behold Electric Guitar". Gilbert has been listening to jazz a lot lately which is clearly audible. His new album can therefore be qualified as fusion but with the emphasis on rock. The songs were recorded in one take to maintain the organic and spontaneous feeling. It is a lively album full of long solos, melodies, grooves and cool licks. The result of Gilbert's collaboration with drummer Brian Foxworth, bass player Roland Guerin and keyboard player Asher Fulero is impressive, the album is a revelation in his body work.
