Once again it's time for some unadulterated funk rock. 'They're too damn funky to be white, they rock too hard to be black'... Mothers Finest of course! Describing the music of the American band is not easy. Closest would be: a mix of funk, rock, gospel, R&B, metal and jazz that transcends musical boundaries and stereotypes.
In the post-Prince and Red Hot Chili Peppers era, the combination of soul, (hard )rock and funk are not uncommon. Somewhat different from when Mothers Finest emerged in the 1970s. In the US they were reviled: 'too damn funky to be white, they rock too hard to be black'. The band has now become a legendary giant on whose shoulders an entire genre rests! To this day they remain true to their roots and play with their usual energy and passion.
