CANCELED - Mezzoforte

Eythor, Fridrik, Johann and Gulli are just 16 years-old when they form Mezzoforte. Meanwhile, the band from Iceland has been around for forty years and Mezzoforte is counted among the top of the jazz/fusion scene. Throughout the years, the musicians shared the stage with, among others, Steps Ahead, Passport, Weather Report, Al Jarreau and Spyro Gyra. The joy of playing hasn't changed after forty years and it really shows!
Mezzoforte released its eponymous debut album in 1979. In the early years there is plenty of experimenting going on. On their fourth album "Surprise Surprise" (1982) the well-known Mezzoforte sound finally takes shape: tight grooves, catchy melodies and exciting solos form a strong foundation. The international hit 'Garden Party' makes for their international breakthrough and with this song the band puts itself firmly on the map. In the years that follow, the success of this hit is no longer equalled. Not really that strange, instrumental world-wide hits are scarce anyway. But Mezzoforte has kept on recording and especially performing live.
