This season, the residents of Zoetermeer will be surprised and inspired during a month with cultural activities throughout the city. The city is buzzing in several places in the form of performances and cultural activities. At the Boerderij two surprising and original artists will perform this evening: Meis & Someone.

Performances by:

Meis is the project of Aysha de Groot, daughter of Marcel and granddaughter of Boudewijn de Groot. Aysha is part of Eefje de Visser’s new live band, but as Meis she writes small solo songs about big topics such as loneliness, fight against bad luck and getting stuck in denial in times of extreme frustration. With isolation as main theme, Meis releases her debut EP “Een” (One), in which she finds an intriguing balance between acoustic instruments and electronic synths and samples. Inspired by artists such as Bon Iver, Big Thief, Clairo and St. Vincent, the EP embraces the wry and imperfect. Meis is raw, sometimes dark, but also dreamy. She doubts everything but grabs you and grips you when she gets lost and won’t let go.

Someone is the alter ego of Dutch radio talent Tessa Rose Jackson. Whereas Tessa is mainly known for her modest, sweet songs, with Someone she delves deeper into the colourful world of psychedelic dream pop. She is always looking for new ways to merge into one whole; from shows with live animations to interactive works of art. With every expression, Someone immerses its audience in a colourful dream world. Pleasant and timeless, but also exciting and innovative. The mix of electronics and psychedelic sounds fits beautifully with Tessa Rose Jackson’s voice, which sounds just as enjoyable as the instrumentation on the album and enhances its dreamy character.
