Made in Purple has a clear mission: to perform Deep Purple's iconic album “Made In Japan” live in its full glory and splendour! While respecting the original songs, sound and soloing, they will perform a magical full 90-minute live experience.
“Made In Japan” is one of the best-known and best-selling live records ever. And let’s be honest: Gillan, Glover, Lord, Blackmore and Paice – the definitive and most successful Deep Purple line-up – indeed produced an iconic double live album, recorded during three sold-out shows in Osaka and Tokyo. Highway Star, Child in Time, Smoke on the Water, The Mule, Strange Kind of Woman, Lazy and Space Truckin’ were all performed live. In 1998 the original release was remastered and three more songs from the same live shows were added: Black Night, Speed King and Lucille. The album was a big part of the continued worldwide popularity and star status that Deep Purple has acquired to this day.
Made in Purple is a project of four more than experienced session and live musicians (teachers at the conservatoire of Ghent and Brussels) and a flamboyant singer (Jesus in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar). They take on this challenge with passion and enthusiasm and influenced by the 70’s hard rock virus. An ambitious project with the musicians’ sheer pleasure on stage as driving force. Relive the masterpiece “Made in Japan” live, as in 1972.
