American singer Lene Lovich is widely regarded as one of the punk and new wave icons of the late seventies and early eighties. Some of her big hits are: Lucky Number, Say when and Bird Song, and her debut album Stateless is a new wave classic. This record was followed by the albums Flex (1980), New toy (1981), No man's land (1982) and March (1990).
In 1979 Lene contributed to Herman Brood's film Cha Cha and in 1986 she and Nina Hagen released the protest song Don't Kill the Animals, directed against the use of laboratory animals. After a 15 year radio silence Lene Lovich released Shadows and Dust (2005), her first album since March.
