Heavy guitars, a thundering rhythm section, flowing synths and melodic vocals, that's what Dutch progrockers Knight Area stands for. Founded in 2004 by composer/keyboardist Gerben Klazinga Knight Area has been successful with albums and performances around the world and has become a fixture in symphonic and (neo-) progressive tinged rock. During this release party the band will present its new album "Heaven and Beyond".
On previous albums, the band collaborated with, among others Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon, Star One, The Gentle Storm) and Charlotte Wessels (Delain) and since guitarist Mark Bogerts and bassist Peter Vink (Q65, Finch, Ayreon) joined, the band has found a strong lineup. And a strong one it is! Both on albums and on stage the band is not afraid to show its virtuoso playing, but always in support of the song. After previous albums had been released on the renowned American Laser's Edge label, the band has now come home. Joost van den Broek (Epica, After Forever, Wende Snijders) produced a successor to the previous album "Hyperdrive" called "Heaven and Beyond" which will be released on February 10 via Butler Records (Lamb, Anneke van Giersbergen, Ruben Hoeke Band, Donnerwetter). The band currently consists of Mark Smit (lead vocals, keyboards), Gerben Klazinga (keyboards, backing vocals), Mark Bogert (guitars), Pieter van Hoorn (drums, backing vocals) and Peter Vink (bass).
