King of The World

King of The World is a union of top musicians from the Dutch blues scene. A soon as news of the formation of King Of The World got out, they were dubbed the next Dutch super group. Not surprising, considering the line-up: guitarist Erwin Java (Cuby & The Blizzards), drummer Fokke de Jong (Normaal), singer/bassist Ruud Weber (Snowy White) and keyboard wizard Govert van der Kolm (Ruf Blues Caravan, Dede Priest). King of the World refers to a song by John Lee Hooker, and waking up in the morning feeling like you can take on the whole world.
Their debut album Can't Go Home, released in March 2013, brought them instant recognition. The band play a very versatile kind of blues, combining various different styles, ranging from slow blues, New Orleans style blues, shuffle blues to what could be called pop blues. This year their self-titled second album will come out, which will be a bit heavier that the first one, according to the band, but with the same excellent vocal harmonies.
