After the release of their album "No Fear of Looking Down" (2016), the British progressive rock band Jadis is back on the scene. The return of keyboardist Martin Orford (ex-IQ) has been excellent news for the band. In 2018, Orford will once again join Jadis on tour, and then, of course, a show at De Boerderij can not be missed! Since 1988 For Absent Friends has been one of Holland's leading melodic rock bands. Although inspired by bands such as Rush and Genesis, the band has developed its own recognizable sound.
The British progressive rock band Jadis was founded in 1986 by singer/guitarist Gary Chandler. The band gained fame as support act for IQ and Marillion in the late 1980s. Their album “More Than Meets The Eye” (1992) is considered to be a classic. The band has eight studio albums and several live albums to its credit. Jadis has managed to retain its characteristic sound over the years. The recognizable keyboard sound of Martin Orford and Chandler’s guitar play are a unique combination.
René Bacchus, the co-founder and longtime bassist of the band has passed away last year after a long illness. FAF has not performed together in years but will come together to perform once more at the Boerderij in Zoetermeer on friday April 6th 2018. FAF will pay tribute in a special concert to the late bass player. It will be their final performance after a 30-year career. For Absent Friends will release their second and final live album “And the curtain calls……” at the end of 2017 or early next year. The album was recorded live at the Boerderij in 2009. It was the last gig Bacchus performed with For Absent Friends.
