Tonight guitarist Scott Henderson, bassist Jeff Berlin and drummer Gary Novak come to Cultuurpodium Boerderij for a HBC show. During all of their previous visits we were treated to an awesome show, and tonight will be no different! Due to health issues Dennis Chambers will be not able to tour with HBC.
Scott Henderson is a renowned jazz & blues guitarist who has toured the world with his own bands Tribal Tech, The Scott Henderson Blues Band and Vital Techtones (with Victor Wooten and Steve Smith) and was the original guitarist in the Chick Corea Elektric Band. Henderson’s unique style is characterised by his own inimitable mix of jazz, blues, rock and fusion, where the complexity of fusion jazz and the basic blues feel meet in a perfect blend. Top bassist Jeff Berlin, a Berklee College of Music graduate, who is probably best known for his collaboration with legendary drummer Bill Bruford, has played alongside nearly all the greats of jazz and jazz fusion.
Tonight’s support act is the Dutch trio On Impulse: Coen Molenaar, Frans Völlink and Sebastiaan Cornelissen, three top musicians from The Netherlands. Their music can probably best be described as electric/fusion jazz with influences from various other musical genres. Keyboardist Coen Molenaar, who is currently touring with Jan Akkerman, produces a nostalgic Hammond sound that takes you on a journey to the early days of jazz rock.
Frans Völlink plays his Fender bass is a way that cannot but bring to mind the late great Jaco Pastorius. Sebastiaan Cornelissen, who has worked with Randy Brecker and Nigel Hitchcock, takes care of the high energy grooves.
