Bjørn Riis is one of the founders of the successful Norwegian prog rock band Airbag. As lead guitarist, writer and co-producer, he played a major role in its global success. Airbag shared the stage with legendary bands such as Marillion, Yes, Saga, Neil Morse and Riverside and played at major festivals such as Night of the Prog.
He now has a successful solo career and has released critically acclaimed albums “Lullabies in a Car Crash” (2014), “Forever Comes to an End” (2017) and “Coming Home” (2018). A fourth album is scheduled for release this spring. His band consists of Airbag drummer Henrik Bergan Fossum, keyboard player Simen Valldal Johanssen (Oak), bass player Kristian Hultgren (Wobbler) and guitarist Ole Michael Bjørndal (Airbag/Oak).
Supporting act tonight is Oak. Riis worked with them on their albums and the both of them already frequently toured together. Core members Simen Valldal Johanssen (keyboards/vocals), Sigbjørn Reiakvam (drums) and Øystein Sootholtet (bass) all have different musical backgrounds, from classical piano to electronics and hard rock and references to the alternative scene and progressive rock. Stephan Hvinden and Ole Michael Bjørndal on guitar complement the band. Reminiscent of Porcupine Tree, Tool, Opeth and of course Airbag.https://www.karismarecords.no/artists/oak/
