The Aurora Project



The Aurora Project is a successful player in the Dutch progressive rock landscape and is known for its excellent concept albums. Their album "Selling The Aggression" (2013) received rave reviews worldwide and was named "Album of the Year 2013" by Radio Sympho Shop. On December 10 The Aurora Project will be performing its brand-new fourth concept album "World of Grey" in its entirety. This performance will be an exclusive show to celebrate the release of the new album.
The Aurora Project was founded in 1998 in Katwijk (Netherlands), by six musicians who met through playing the card game Magic: The Gathering. Aside from their interest in the aforementioned game, the group members also share a passion for progressive rock and symphonic, including Rush, Dream Theater, Arena and Pallas, but also more obscure metal bands like 3rd and the Mortal and My Dying Bride. The band writes its music during long jam sessions and have released various concept albums. Meanwhile, the band has three albums and one live DVD to its credit. An all time low in the history of the band, is the death of guitarist and lyricist Marc Vooijs in September 2014. The band members take a year's leave of absence and eventually decide to proceed with just the five of them. The band soon pick up where they left off and begins writing a new concept album. As a support act Golden Caves and Downriver Dead Men Go will serve, both bands also hailing from Katwijk.
