Spyro Gyra was founded in 1974 by alto saxophonist Jay Beckenstein. Spyro Gyra's music had a major influence on the smooth jazz movement, which combines jazz with pop, R&B and funk. The music of this band is anything but dated, their songs are still widely played today on jazz and easy listening radio stations. The band played thousands of shows, released more than 30 albums and sold more than 10 million records worldwide. Still today, this band’s performance has lost none of its appeal.
