The Canadian progressive rocker SAGA say goodbye at their 40th anniversery with a best of program of songs from their 21 studio albums. 40th birthday party and farewell tour in one, these are the last shows of SAGA in Europe! The classics of the quintet like „Don’t Be Late“, „On The Loose“, „The Flyer“, Wind Him Up“, „Humble Stance“ or„ Scratching The Surface“ are, of course, an integral part of this.
SAGA, known as a first class live-act are: Lead-vocalist and charismatic frontman Michael Sadler, the brothers Ian (guitar) and Jim Crichton (bass, keyboard), Jim Gilmour (keyboard, vocals) and Mike Thorne (drums, vocals). Their (bombast) sound is characterized by melodious, complex sound cascades with staccato-like guitar inserts, orchestral keyboards and pathetic singing. Since the founding of SAGA, their recordings were sold worldwide eight million times. The last one, recorded in 2015 for two CD´s is „Live In Hamburg“ (earMUSIC). Michael Sadler announced the farewell tour, which is also the 40th anniversary of the band, on the SAGA homepage as follows: „Ladies and Gentleman, Girls and Boys, this year marks 4 decades of writing, recording and touring as a band; however, after much deliberation and discussion – my brothers and I have regretfully decided, that after 40 incredible years together, 2017 will be SAGA´s „Final Chapter“… We would like to take this opportunity to thank absolutely everyone – you have made it possible for us to have been on this incredible ride… Although it will be bittersweet, we are very much looking forward, to seeing as many of you as possible this year… so we can thank you in person“.
