Leif de Leeuw & Tim Koning

Just as in previous years some of the students of the 'Codarts' School of the Arts from Rotterdam graduate by performing at De Boerderij. This time it's the turn of two familiar faces from the Dutch blues world, guitarist Leif de Leeuw and drummer Tim Koning, both known for the Leif de Leeuw band. These two musicians have been on stage at De Boerderij several times, but for them this is their finest moment. Expect a unique performance of both gentlemen, both solo as well as a performance by the Leif de Leeuw XL band.
Leif de Leeuw, guitarist and founder of the Leif de Leeuw Band, already at a young age already gained several music awards. He twice won the Sena Young Talent Guitar Award (2009 and 2013) and in 2016 he was named best blues (rock) guitarist of the Benelux by the readers of the magazine 'Guitarist'. For the same award he has been nominated twice in 2017, for 'Best Guitarist Benelux' and 'Best Blues(rock)/country/folk guitarist'. Leif has had the honor to play with many big names in the industry including Tony Spinner, Stochelo Rosenberg and Henrik Freischlader. Leif was influenced by artists like Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, Derek Trucks, Larry Carlton, Joe Walsh and Jimmy Herring. Tim Koning started at the tender age of eight with drum lessons by Cesar Zuiderwijk. Meanwhile Tim himself is an accomplished drum teacher, but ties with Cesar are not broken: he is always present as a teacher during his famous three day drums clinic. In 2013 he began his studies rock drumming at the Codarts Rotterdam Conservatory, where he was taught by Hans Eijkenaar and Martijn Vink and where he actually met Leif. In 2015, Tim went to work as a drummer for the Leif de Leeuw Band. His influences are, among others, Vinnie Colaiuta and Stewart Copeland. Tim has become a versatile drummer and plays absolutely every style, from blues to house and anything in between!
