In 1993, Guthrie Govan was elected by the British magazine Guitarist as "Guitarist of the Year". In recent years, Govan toured with such greats as Asia, Hans Zimmer and Steven Wilson. In 2011, together with bassist Bryan Beller and drummer Marco Minnemann, he founded the instrumental trio The Aristocrats.
