Gino Vannelli is one of the best-selling Canadian artists of all time, with 20 million albums sold. He is known for world-wide hits like People Gotta Move, Hurts To Be In Love and Wild Horses. Vannelli has a number of Grammy nominations and Juno Awards to his name, namely for ‘Best Male Vocalist’, ‘Best Album’ and ‘Production/Engineering’.
After Vannelli moved to America, he signed a contract with Herp Albert’s A & M records, whom he convinced of his qualities by auditioning his songs People Gotta Move, Crazy Life, Mama Coco, Powerful People and Lady. All of these songs would later end up on albums that Vannelli would record while with A&M between 1974 and 1978. At Arista Records he released the album “Nightwalker”. The song Living Inside Myself became a hit, but Arista refused to release the next album “Twisted Heart”. It wasn’t until 1985 Vannelli would be able to release his next album “Black Cars” with the record company HME. Two years later he joined CBS Records and recorded “Big Dreamers Never Sleep”, from which album the single Wild Horses became a hit in many countries. These albums were particularly well received in Europe, and Vannelli has till the present day a huge fan base in Europe, where he frequently tours. He is known for constantly discovering new musical directions and regularly works with major orchestras, including Montreal Symphony, Dansk Radio Orchestra and the Metropole Orchestra. He still travels around the world, from Jakarta to Cape Town, from Las Vegas to Moscow and from New Orleans to Tokyo. During 2007-2008, Gino stayed in the Netherlands for some time, resulting in the album “A Good Thing” in early 2009.
